Gainsbourg Overdose Number 1: Charlotte Forever

The first installment in an inevitable, irresistible series comes thanks to a Serge Gainsbourg page at the Korean music site Mupot.kr, with the freaky Freudian "Charlotte for ever" playing. The clip is from the 1986 film of the same name, which was written and directed by Gainsbarre and starred a scruffy old him alongside his lovely daughter. Late Gainsbourg at his sleazy best, singing another sexually loaded duet with his daughter.

Charlotte Gainsbourg's acting career was already up and running at the age of fifteen. Two years after Charlotte for Ever she gave a gorgeously subtle performance in La Petite voleuse as a young kleptomaniac. She has starred in dozens of films since, notably My Wife Is an Actress. Last year she also put out an album, 5:55, with music by Air. She's currently at work playing Kate Connor in Terminator 4.

Why all the Gainsbourg to come? The composer and singer would have turned 80 this spring. And Joann Sfar is beginning production of the film based on his life this September.
